What we do
Citizen’s Climate Lobby California (CCL-CA) is a nonpartisan, grassroots advocacy organization focused on US and California climate policies. We’re a collective of citizens like you – hardworking, everyday folks with a vision of a prosperous California powered by affordable, reliable, and above all clean energy. We envision a California that places climate justice at the forefront of its decision-making and sets an example of good governance for other states to follow.
We believe it’s possible and we’re building the political will to make it happen. We use the battle-tested tools developed by our parent organization, Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL), to promote state-level legislation that will steer California, the 4th largest economy in the world, towards an equitable net-zero future.
How we do it
1. We build lasting relationships with members of Congress, the California Senate and Assembly, the Governor’s office, relevant executive agencies, and their staffs.
2. We carefully select and advocate for science-based, climate-focused legislation that has the greatest chance of political success. We are currently prioritizing CCL’s 4 key policy arenas: carbon pricing and cashback, healthy forests, clean energy permitting reform, and building electrification and efficiency.
3. We seek out other climate, environmental, and social justice organizations with goals that overlap with ours, and lend grassroots support.
4. We provide training and assistance to help climate activists become effective climate communicators and citizen-lobbyists.
5. We offer technical expertise to state and local officials to boost their understanding of the climate crisis and potential solutions to it.
